Steve Rayson

Steve has extensive experience as a manager within Forests NSW and has held the positions of District Forester, Regional Manager and Manager, Timber Supply and Operations. Most of his career has been associated with Native Forest Management on the NSW North Coast where he has gained extensive knowledge of all aspects of forestry and the timber industry.
Hamish Crawford
Cailum Pty Ltd
Hamish is a forest economist with over 24 years experience in forestry and natural resources management. His areas of expertise include sustainable forestry certification, forest financial and woodflow modelling, carbon sequestration accounting and forest policy development.
Since forming Cailum Pty Ltd in 2002, Hamish has undertaken over 80 consultancy projects for both government and corporate clients. He is also the Australian representative for Soil Association Woodmark (FSC certification body) and an Honorary Fellow at the University of Melbourne.
Fabiano Ximenes
NSW Dept. of Primary Industries
Fabiano has a bachelor in Forestry from Brazil (University of Brasília) and obtained a Master in Wood Science at the Australian National University. Fabiano is a Research Officer with the NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI), and is the current leader of the “Greenhouse Footprint of Wood Products” Project, jointly funded by the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation and the NSW DPI. Prior to this project, Fabiano was the leader of the "Carbon in Wood Products" Project from the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Accounting.
Nick Livanes

Nick is a structural engineer with extensive experience in commercial building design and construction, particularly in precast and post-tensioned concrete. For the last 12 years Nick has held market development roles with the timber industry particularly focusing on the introduction of new grades, timber technology in multi-residential design and thermal performance. Nick is currently the Executive Officer for the Frame & Truss Manufacturers Association of Australia.
Associate Professor Gregory Nolan M.Arch B.Arch(Hons) B.Sc(Arch)
Director, Centre for Sustainable Architecture with Wood, School of Architecture & Design, University of Tasmania
Gregory Nolan is a registered Architect and Associate Professor at the University of Tasmania’s School of Architecture. In addition to teaching, Greg is also Director of the School’s Centre for Sustainable Architecture with Wood, a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners and researchers working with Australia's timber industry and the design and construction professions. Greg is active in research into timber and its use in building in Australia; hardwood production and drying; using Australia's hardwood plantation, and the thermal performance of timber buildings.
Andrew Brodie
Australian Architectural Hardwood
Andrew Brodie started Australian Architectural Hardwoods 15 years ago. The company has grown steadily and is now one of the biggest millers of recycled hardwoods in Australia. The company is based in Kempsey and has an extensive range of products including tongue and groove flooring, bench tops, stair components, trusses, large section size timber, lining boards, decking, weather boards etc.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and has built for architects such as Glen Murcutt. He is therefore in an ideal position to assist architects and designers with practical advice. He is a thoughtful environmentalist and an engaging speaker.
Warwick Donnelly
Warwick Donnelly and Associates
Warwick is a director of Warwick Donnelly Pty Ltd, a small consulting structural engineering practice that has specialised in timber engineering for over twenty years. Warwick has a particular interest in the integration of structural and architectural design solutions, has presented papers at international timber conferences, and received two Australian timber design awards in 2005.

Following 10 years experience as a Consultant, Keith joined UTS in 1993, to establish an education and research program in Timber Engineering. In his current role at UTA he undertakes teaching of various structural design subjects in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as research and specialist consulting activities.
Keith is an internationally recognised expert in the areas of assessment (safety), rehabilitation and repair of timber structures, such as bridges, buildings and utility poles. His consultancies include research and development and specialist design for numerous government instrumentalities, timber industry companies, developers and other consultants.
He is the author of over 200 technical papers and research reports relating to the use, safety and reliability of structural timber. His research work finds applications through his active involvement in 4 SAA code committees and as Chair of Working Group 9, Round timbers and poles on ISO TC165 (Timber Engineering)
Andrew Dunn

Andrew has 22 years experience in the building industry with the last 17 years in the timber industry. He has a Civil/Structural Engineering degree and a Masters of Timber Engineering. Andrew represents the industry on a numerous Australian Standards such as Timber Framing, Bushfire, Termite Control, Plasterboard Installation and Earth Retaining Structures.
Simon Dorries
General Manager, Engineered Wood Products Association of Australasia (EWPAA)
Simon is the General Manager of the Engineered Wood Products Association of Australasia (EWPAA). The EWPAA is a manufacturer’s association representing plywood, laminated veneer lumber and other glued structural wood product manufacturers with operations in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Applied Science and has worked at the EWPAA for over 20 years. His extensive experience has included product testing and assessment, research and development, development of certification systems for Engineered Wood Products and extensive experience in the development of training programs and product standards.
Clinton Cole

Clinton Cole is the Director of C+C Design Construct Pty Ltd, a company employing both Architects and Builders in-house. Their team structure is consistently producing projects that are designed and built with cost efficiency and high quality detailing. Timber construction plays an important role in aesthetic, buildability and environmental aspects of their work with timber materials integrated in their projects through unique off site fabrication processes and steel/timber hybrid techniques. Clinton will share his 'hands on' and 'hands off' experience in the design and construction of several award winning C+C projects
